Enterprising Brunel

Working closely with business is part of Brunel’s DNA. We value your support, whether investing in student projects and university showcase events such as Made in Brunel or helping us build the university’s new Innovation Hub; you can help realise Brunel’s vision.

Made in Brunel is the University’s showcase exhibition for Design, Engineering and Digital Technology. Run by a dedicated student team, it illustrates the range of talentMade in Brunel available at Brunel University.

Made in Brunel is also a huge opportunity for collaboration and partnership development, drawing upon both corporate and individual support to offer awards and opportunities to the students. Our supporters work with us on many levels, from the most vital – offering jobs, placements and projects to our students – to actually helping us to make the showcase possible through event sponsorship and advertising.

The following are just a few examples of the support that Made in Brunel has received over the years:

HSBC Global Education Trust partnered with Made in Brunel over several years, with the aim of supporting the development of international design collaborations. They helped Made in Brunel set up relationships with universities in India, China, USA, Canada and Mexico and sent students from these institutions to exhibitions worldwide.

Autodesk and Made in Brunel worked together over a number of years, to provide their software to all of the students, creating a community of Autodesk users and to promote innovative thinking through presentations and workshops.

Xerox sponsored and judged a design competition, focusing on innovation in design. Successful concepts were awarded prizes and opened opportunities for PR and exposure to Xerox’s wide range of collaborators.

Jaguar Landrover have sponsored several social events leading up to the 2012 and 2013 Made in Brunel exhibitions as well as awarding prizes to student teams undertaking design thinking challenges. These involve creative tasks, brainstorming and student networking opportunities, making them hugely effective as team-building and learning exercises alike.

Roger received an honorary degree of Doctor of Technology in 2006 from Brunel and has, for the past five years supported Made in Brunel.During 2014 Roger and Niftylift sponsored Brunel's Urban ScholarsnProgramme.

Brunel’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Julia Buckingham said: “We are very proud to have Roger among our alumni. He is a great friend of the University and his company is an excellent example of the success that can be achieved through talent, innovation and hard work."
